    Swiss National Day Celebration 2016

    The Swiss Ski Club is proud to return this year to volunteer at NYC's Swiss National Day Event, to be held at Studio Square Beer Garden in Long Island City! The event itself is from noon - 5 PM, but we as volunteers will take shifts that may start a little earlier or end a little later.

    Join the Swiss Ski Club of New York for some summer fun at The City’s oldest beer garden, The Beer Garden at Bohemian Hall in Astoria, Queens.  

    Long-time members, new members, friends long-time and new-we want to see you all!  

    Let’s talk skiing and boarding in the summer heat!

    (rain or shine, if it rains we’ll move indoors) 

    Look for red Swiss Ski Club flags!

    Many, many, many varieties of beer on tap from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. 
    $4 mugs of craft beer. $5 glasses of wine.

    Czech culinary favorites, plus food from the grill.

    Join the Swiss Ski Club of New York for an evening on the New York Harbor.

    We’ll be at the Willy Wall!  The Honorable William Wall is the floating clubhouse of Manhattan Yacht Club.

    View the breathtaking harbor and lower Manhattan skyline.  You’ll have front row seats if there are sailing races that day.

    It can be cooler on the water so bring a sweater.  Wear appropriate footwear.

    Feel free to bring your own snacks or dinner as no food is sold on board.  Drinks must be purchased on board.  Cash and credit cards are accepted.

    The Willy Wall usually runs in light rain and other moderate weather conditions.  
    Willy Wall may cancel due to severe or unsafe weather conditions.  Details on the Willy Wall website.

    Give yourself enough time to find the ferry departure point.  Arrive 5 minutes early.

    • Open Grounds

    Come see some of the biggest names in tennis up close!  One of the best parts of the US Open is to come and watch players practice against each other in competitive matches prior to the official opening.  You'll find us front row at  Armstrong or Grandstand or whatever court promises the most exciting matches. FREE.

    We'll meet at the Open Grounds at 2:00 pm

    or the Long Island Railroad (LIRR) to Mets-Willets leaves Pennstation at 1:22 PM and arrives 1:38 PM $6 about 15 min from Penn Station http://lirr42.mta.info/schedules.php - subject to change - double-check schedule before you leave.

    Once you get off the subway or LIRR, walk over the wooden walk way towards the US Open grounds.  You'll find yourself in a circular plaza, most often decorated by Mercedes Benz or other car sponsor.  We will meet at the benches around plaza.    
    Don’t bring anything on the “prohibited” list including a steel or glass water bottle, a backpack, or a bag bigger than 12″x12″x18″. Don’t forget sunglasses, sunscreen and to dress in layers as it can get hot during the day.


    We'll have dinner around 7:00 pm in Flushing at a highly-rated Zagat Asian restaurant.

    Enjoy this long week-end and the last days of summer!
    Bring your bikes and enjoy beautiful Vermont scenery.  
    The main activity for the weekend is biking; Vitaly and Azita will be leading groups of cyclists, but anyone can join to pursue other activities.
